Only about 10 years ago, if you wanted to start finding thos old friends that you lost contact with, you had to pay . During this time it was usually people you went to school with or maybe grew up with as a child. It was still fun and exciting, but now you find old friends for free. All you have to do is know where to look.
Use The Social Networking Sites .
Find a Common Friend.
If you can't find them through normal searches on these social networks it's always a good idea to check out the lists of your friends. It's possible they can be found in someone else's friend's list. This may take some time, but finding old friends and doing it without spending any money is well worth it.
Old Contact Information.
If by chance finding old friends becomes a little more difficult you should try to find any old contact information. Granted you might not have it, but if you do there are plenty of reverse telephone search sites out there. Just do a Google search and plenty of services will come up. Utilizing these could provide you with a new phone number or address for your friend.
What about Those Old Photos?
You could try posting an old school photograph onto Facebook , asking if anyone knows the whereabouts of 'so and so' (top row, third from right) that sort of thing, and say that you are (bottom row, next to teacher) for example then if anyone recognizes your lost friend they may post important information or contact you direct.
Keep in mind though that when you try to find old friends for free it never truly comes together. It is possible that you will have to invest a little money, and a great way to do it is through creative advertising. Place an ad in the "Lost and Found" section of the local newspaper. People do it for cats and dogs all the time, but a real person will grab their attention.
Did They Move Abroad?
It's also possible that your friend moved abroad and they are no longer in the local area. Heck, sometimes they are overseas, enjoying the fruits of other countries. One thing you can do to start finding old friends out of the area is through ex-pat clubs. They offer forum facilities and will have websites like; Living in...Canada, Greece, France, etc. The individuals on these sites are more than willing to lend a helping hand and have personal blogs with useful links available.
There are tons of people signing up for social networking sites every day. Even though you had a hard time finding old friends the first time around doesn't mean you should stop trying. Go back to Facebook and Twitter and talk with others. Don't be afraid to check out other places like MySpace, Fubar, or any of the other social networking sites out there. Your old friend is out there somewhere and just by using the information above you can find old friends for free.

I have been active the last 12 months tracking down friends whom I have lost contact with and have had much success in doing so through the net.Hi Craig, thanks for the comment. I first got involved with 'people search' after I wanted to find the address of a young man, originally from New York, who came to stay with us in England when he was a student. I was amazed how quick and accurate the information was presented.Take care.
